Athletes are expected to have proper sailing clothing including hiking pants, spray top, hiking boots and a sailing specific life jacket. In order to join the team, athletes must become junior members of the Tahoe Yacht Club allowing them to race in our local Monday Night Laser series for free. Visit www.Tahoeyc.com for more information and to register for the Monday Night Laser Series. Training happens Monday through Thursday from noon to 5 PM every second week in the summer at a cost of $250 per week paid to Lake Tahoe Sailing starting the 3rd week of June. At this price, athletes are required to commit to 4 weeks of training per summer and participate in the Tahoe Yacht Club's Monday Night Laser series, also Free! In order to join the team, athletes must become Junior Members of the Tahoe Yacht Club and can race for free on Monday Nights. By training every second week, this gives athletes a chance to recover and work on the off weeks or do other family adventures. This has to be the best value in sports! You don't have to buy a boat, coaching at regattas is free, Monday Night Racing is Free, boat transport to regattas is free, joining the Tahoe Yacht Club...you guessed it Free, courtesy of the Tahoe Community Sailing Foundation. There is also an exciting travel itinerary where we take the team on the road to major Laser Regattas on the West Coast to prepare them for the US Sailing Youth National Championships. Parents are also encouraged to travel with the team and race as well, as many of the regattas the team go to are open for all ages. We need parent volunteers to tow a coach boat or light Laser trailer and chaperone at regattas. To join the team, Athletes must complete a week of "Learn to Laser" to confirm that they have basic Laser boat handling skills and that they love the sport. Nick Pullen is the coach for the high performance team and brings decades of international Laser Racing experience to the team and is considered to be one of the best Laser coaches in North America.
